Post Processing Actions

v1.0

Post Processing Actions control Unity's URP Volume Profile effects to create cinematic visuals, environmental moods, and dynamic camera effects. These actions target Volume components and can animate or instantly change effects like bloom, depth of field, color grading, and more.

circle-info

Each of these will require a "Volume" object. If one is not provided, the Action will search for a cached one on the Action Blackboard. If not found, it will search for one in the scene — if that is found the Action will cache it, so that future instances do not need to perform the more expensive search.

Bloom

Set Bloom Intensity Action

Animates the bloom intensity value to create pulsing glow effects around bright objects. Higher values produce stronger, more pronounced glows that can emphasize light sources, magical effects, or energy-based visuals.

Set Bloom Clamp Action

Sets the maximum bloom intensity limit to control how bright the glow effect can become. Prevents overly bright bloom from washing out the scene while maintaining artistic control over the brightest highlights.

Set Bloom Tint Action

Applies a color tint to bloom glow, useful for creating colored light halos or magical auras. Can be animated to shift glow colors dynamically, such as transitioning from warm to cool tones during day/night cycles.

This includes 3 color examples, while the Threshold and Intensity are also increased.

Set Bloom Threshold Action

Adjusts the luminance threshold that determines which pixels bloom. Lower thresholds make more of the scene glow, while higher values limit bloom to only the brightest elements for more selective, focused glow effects.

Set Bloom Scatter Action

Controls how far bloom spreads from bright areas, affecting the size and diffusion of the glow effect. Higher scatter values create softer, more expansive halos that blend into the surrounding scene.

Randomize Bloom Action

Continuously randomizes bloom parameters within specified ranges to create dynamic, pulsing glow effects. Great for flickering magical effects, unstable energy sources, or atmospheric environmental variations.

This example randomizes the Intensity, Threshold, and Tint

Color Grading

Set White Balance Action

Animates the color temperature to shift the overall scene tone between warm (orange) and cool (blue). Perfect for simulating time of day changes, environmental moods, or transitioning between different lighting conditions.

Set White Balance Tint Action

Adjusts the green-magenta tint balance independently of temperature for precise color correction. Useful for neutralizing color casts or creating stylized looks with subtle magenta or green color shifts.

Set Color Filter Action

Applies a color tint overlay to the entire scene for environmental moods and color themes. Can create dramatic atmospheric effects like sepia tones, night vision green, or custom brand color overlays.

Set Color Post Exposure Action

Controls the overall scene brightness after tonemapping, simulating camera exposure adjustments. Animating this creates smooth fade-to-white or fade-to-black transitions useful for scene transitions or flash effects.

Set Color Contrast Action

Adjusts the difference between light and dark values to make scenes more punchy or subdued. Higher contrast creates more dramatic, high-impact visuals, while lower contrast produces softer, more muted atmospheres.

Set Color Saturation Action

Controls color intensity from full desaturation (grayscale) to hyper-saturated vibrant colors. Useful for stylized looks, transitions between flashback and present time, or emphasizing/de-emphasizing environmental vibrancy.

Set Color Hue Shift Action

Rotates all colors around the color wheel to create surreal or stylized color schemes. Can transform familiar scenes into alien environments or create psychedelic visual effects by shifting all hues uniformly.

Set Split Toning Action

Applies separate color tints to shadows and highlights for classic cinematic looks. Common for creating orange/teal Hollywood-style grading or vintage film aesthetics with distinct shadow and highlight color treatments.

Set Channel Mixer Action

Remaps RGB color channels for advanced color manipulation and stylized color effects. Enables complex color transformations like swapping channels, creating monochromatic looks, or simulating color blindness modes.

Set Tonemapping Mode Action

Changes the tonemapping mode that controls how HDR colors are mapped to display. Instant change with no animation; switches between Neutral, ACES, and other tonemapping curves for different visual styles.

Randomize Color Grading Action

Continuously randomizes color grading parameters within specified ranges for dynamic color variations. Creates unstable, shifting color palettes useful for psychedelic effects, magical disturbances, or environmental anomalies.

Depth of Field

Set Depth Of Field Focus Distance Action

Animates the focal distance to smoothly shift focus between near and far objects. Creates rack focus effects common in cinematography, drawing viewer attention to specific scene elements while blurring others.

Set Depth Of Field Focal Length Action

Adjusts the lens focal length to control the intensity and falloff of the depth of field blur. Lower focal lengths create stronger bokeh blur, while higher values produce sharper backgrounds with less pronounced depth separation.

Set Depth Of Field Aperture Action

Controls the aperture (f-stop) to adjust background blur intensity and bokeh circle size. Lower f-stops (like f/1.4) create dramatic blurred backgrounds, while higher values (f/16) keep more of the scene in focus.

Randomize Depth Of Field Action

Continuously randomizes depth of field parameters to create dynamic focus shifts and blur variations. Useful for simulating unstable cameras, disoriented character vision, or experimental visual effects.

Film Grain

Set Film Grain Action

Animates film grain intensity to add analog texture and cinematic feel to digital imagery. Higher values create more pronounced grain patterns that can enhance realism or create vintage film aesthetics.

Set Film Grain Response Action

Controls how grain responds to luminance, affecting whether grain appears more in bright or dark areas. Adjusting response creates different film stock simulations from high-speed grainy film to fine-grain cinema stock.

Set Film Grain Type Action

Changes the film grain pattern type to control the visual style of the grain effect. Instant change between Thin, Medium, and Large grain types for different aesthetic looks without animation.

Randomize Film Grain Action

Continuously randomizes film grain parameters for dynamic analog texture variations. Creates fluctuating grain patterns useful for simulating damaged film, surveillance footage, or unstable broadcast signals.

Lens Effects

Randomize Lens Distortion Action

Continuously randomizes lens distortion parameters for dynamic warping effects. Creates unstable, shifting perspective distortions useful for hallucination sequences, portal effects, or reality-bending visuals.

Set Lens Distortion Action

Animates lens distortion intensity to create barrel or pincushion warping effects. Can simulate fish-eye lenses, underwater vision, or create stylized screen warps for portal effects or spatial distortions.

Set Lens Distortion Center Action

Controls the Lens Distortion center position in screen space (0-1 range), determining where the distortion originates. Supports Absolute/Relative modes and includes AffectX/AffectY toggles for independent axis control. Can animate over time using an animation curve.

Set Lens Distortion XY Multiplier Action

Controls the X and Y multipliers of Lens Distortion, determining the intensity per axis (0-1 range). Supports Absolute/Relative modes and includes AffectX/AffectY toggles for independent axis control. Can animate over time using an animation curve.

Set Lens Distortion Scale Action

Controls the Lens Distortion center position in screen space (0-1 range), determining where the distortion originates. Supports Absolute/Relative modes and includes AffectX/AffectY toggles for independent axis control. Can animate over time using an animation curve.

Set Panini Projection Action

Applies Panini projection for wide field-of-view rendering without extreme edge distortion. Animates distance and crop-to-fit parameters to create dynamic perspective shifts useful for cinematic camera movements.

Set Chromatic Aberration Action

Animates chromatic aberration intensity to create RGB color separation at screen edges. Simulates lens imperfections for realism or creates stylized glitch effects with separated color channels.

Randomize Chromatic Aberration Action

Continuously randomizes chromatic aberration for fluctuating color separation effects. Simulates unstable optics, damaged lenses, or creates glitch aesthetics with randomly shifting RGB channel separation.

Motion & Camera

Set Motion Blur Action

Animates motion blur intensity to create smooth motion trails and cinematic movement feel. Higher values produce longer blur streaks during fast camera or object movement, enhancing sense of speed and fluidity.

Vignette

Set Vignette Intensity Action

Animates vignette darkness intensity to create edge darkening that focuses attention on screen center. Increases or decreases the strength of the vignette effect smoothly for dramatic focus shifts or atmospheric transitions.

Set Vignette Smoothness Action

Controls the gradient falloff between the vignette edge and clear center area. Higher smoothness creates softer, more gradual transitions, while lower values produce harsher, more pronounced vignette boundaries.

Set Vignette Rounded Action

Adjusts vignette shape roundness to control whether the effect is circular or more rectangular. Lower values create corner-focused darkening, while higher values produce perfectly circular vignettes.

Mixing Intensity, Smoothness, while toggling Rounded on and off

Set Vignette Center Action

Animates the vignette center point position to shift the focus area across the screen. Useful for following characters, directing attention to off-center compositions, or creating dynamic focal point movements.

Set Vignette Color Action

Changes the vignette color from traditional black to custom tints for stylized framing effects. Can create colored edge glows, fantasy atmosphere borders, or mood-specific framing with warm or cool color tints.

Randomize Vignette Action

Continuously randomizes vignette parameters for dynamic edge effects and focus variations. Creates pulsing, shifting vignette patterns useful for breathing effects, unstable vision, or atmospheric flickering.
